Integration brokers

I have been presenting topics of harnessing ICT in PA in the light of such aspects like: interoperability, web services, SOA and convergence of PA and business sector. There are a lot of initiatives in European PA aimed at building teleinformatic environment for technical interoperability based on unified XML messages. These initiatives are realized in respective countries through solutions called integration brokers. They are responsible for communication management and transformation of XML files where information on particular e-service for citizens or business are included.

Analyzes of particular PA initiatives in regard of integration brokers indicates high compatibility of ideas, concepts and needs in PA with available products of the biggest ICT worldwide companies that offer solutions based on loose coupling. The most known initiatives are:

  • Governmental Gateway [GB]
  • Reach [Ireland]
  • IDA eLink [EU]
Solutions designed and developed within mentioned above initiatives are based on SOA and assure technical interoperability through web services. They use open standards based on XML like: XML-Schema, WSDL, SOAP, UDDI.The most known business solutions that can be analyzed in this context are:

  • BizTalk [Microsoft]
  • WebSphere [IBM]
  • BEA Systems
